On Sunday July 12th we were looking forward to getting out of the hospital. We did everything possible to clear the methotrexate (MTX) and get to discharge criteria level: less than .10. Nick walked around, ate a bunch and drank 56 ounces of water on top of the 2.7 liters of fluid they were giving him. Unfortunately, lab results came back and we ended up staying another night. I will be the first to admit that it was very disappointing news. The following morning, the MTX level needed to be less than .08 and I was bracing for one more day. The lab results came back at around 8:30 A.M. at .07 and we were discharged. I think back on the whole journey and the one thing that is certain is that predicting anything is impossible.
